The Stettler and District Food Bank provides food hampers to those in need. 

Our MISSION

Our mission is to provide emergency food support to those in need in the Town of Stettler and surrounding area, and to promote long-term solutions to address food insecurity in our community.

Our Features

Did you know?

When your local Stettler Grocery store (No Frills, Sobeys, and Walmart) asks if you want to donate to the Food Bank at the checkout 100% of the money donated comes directly to the Stettler Food bank! These donations go a long way in helping us meet our goals!!

 

The Stettler & District Food Bank is 100% run by Volunteers! We truly are thankful for all the contributions our volunteers make!

2025 Stats

In 2025 the Stettler Food Bank provided hampers to  2102 households. This works out to 5140 individuals. 36 % of the individuals we served are 18 years or younger! 

In 2025 all food coming into the Food bank was weighed. Rescued, purchased, or donated.

We rescued 59954 lbs of food from local stores that otherwise would have been discarded

 

We purchased 42538 lbs of food, in addition we purchased and gave out 5316 Litres of milk and 3166 dozen eggs, and aprox 700 lbs of cheese

We received 27,478 lbs of donated food from Stettler and area (9672 lbs of it came from the October food drive)

22382 lbs of food was supplied (free of charge) by Food Banks AB from their allotment program

So over 150,000 lbs of food!!

We also received over 5000 lbs of rescued pet food from the Stettler Pet Valu store

Food Banks Canada Hunger Count Report

Each year Food Banks across Canada submit a snapshot of their stats to a national database and a Hunger Count report is created it can be found at https://foodbankscanada.ca/hungercount/, it provides data on a National and Provincial level as well as policy recommendations required to make a positive change!! 

Of note, in Alberta had an increase of 21.8% in Food Bank visits from 2024.
